Hi everyone and welcome to the final blog. Thank you for taking the time to read the blogs every week! This week's blog will be on the topic of Artificial Intelligence and how it is being used in business. Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly popular in every industry. In January of 2023, 35% of companies were already using AI, and this number is growing rapidly. So what is AI and how exactly are businesses using it?  Artificial Intelligence is a simulation of human intelligence, created by machines, it is a combination of computer science and huge data sets that enables problem-solving. Currently, businesses have a variety of uses for AI, which include saving time, increasing efficiency, and reducing costs. The most popular use of AI for businesses is customer service. At some point all of us have probably encountered an automated chatbot customer service advisor, this is a form of AI. These chatbots are not only used to solve customer queries, but they can also ...

E-Commerce and Internet Technologies

Hi everyone! This week I have decided to have a look at e-commerce and the platforms that can be used to help businesses engage in e-commerce themselves. There are thousands of online platforms that companies of all sizes use to develop and run their business day to day, chances are you have used many of these platforms before, such as Squarespace, Class pass, and DocuSign to name a few. Below we will look at some recommendations of platforms for growing businesses such as a gym or fitness centre, a new clothing boutique, and a local cafĂ©. The first platform I would recommend to a new gym would be PushPress. PushPress is designed as a gym management software. The platform was voted easiest to implement and best usability so new gyms and fitness centers will have no issue integrating the system into their website. PushPress will help automatically check in clients, manage bookings and payments, store client information, and reduce admin tasks. It is essential for any gym to imp...

It is all about engagement!

Hi everyone! On this week’s blog, we will look at how you can get more engagement with visitors to your blog, and why this is so important. Let’s start by looking at what exactly engagement means. Blog engagement is a way of measuring how interested your readers are in what you are saying. Let’s look at a few ways of boosting engagement on your blog; the first is to create authentic valuable content. It is important that you are not just posting for the sake of it, you should stay true to your own thoughts an...

Ethical and social challenges associated with Big Data

Big Data can be defined as large, complex sets of data, that are of such high volume traditional data processing software can't manage it. Examples of big data include GPS navigation, social media content, credit card details, and public health data.  Many of the concerns with big data arise from the fact that it contains a large amount of personal information. Issues over privacy are one of the biggest issues with big data. Some data is collected by manually imputing our details online, however, our data is also being collected when we are not aware of it, such as through algorithms on social media, tracking what type of content you interact with.  It is impossible for people to have 'informed consent' when it comes to generating big data, as it is not possible to know where the data you are producing will end up or how it will be used. You can listen to this  Podcast on the ethics of big data  to find out more about consent with big data.  The risk of pe...

Learning through trailhead

This blog will look at what skills I have learned through trailhead. The first module I completed was on Service Intelligence. Service intelligence is used to collect customer data in one place and represent it using data visualisations that provide insights into service operations. The data gathered helps you to understand service trends, agent behaviors, and customer satisfaction. Service Intelligence suggests KPIs and uses AI to help you to make better service decisions. I previously completed the role of a customer engagement intern on placement, and this would have been useful in my role to have an overview of how the customer service team was operating. Service Intelligence uses a combination of data cloud and CRM analytics. These are combined to create a visual of KPIs. It uses AI to identify the top reasons for customers to get in touch. It also allows the organisation to see the data in categorised sections. Finally, the system prioritises contact reasons by the most actionab...

3 examples of companies that used ERP successfully to support their business strategy and business model.

This week I will look at some examples od companies that have successfully used ERP in their business. ERP is widely used by large organisations to integrate the management of internal and external resources. I will look at three companies that used Enterprise Applications successfully to support their business strategy and business model. Amazon is one of the largest companies in the world who have successfully implemented ERP into their company. Amazon’s business model is based on an e-commerce platform of buying and selling products, either with directly sourced products or through their third-party seller marketplace. At Amazon, their strategy is to prioritise the customer and offer a diversified range of products. The company has used SAP software since 2008 as they stated their previous software would not allow them to meet long-term goals. The company has implemented SAP across various departments such as finance, purchasing, and inventory control . Implementing SAP has allo...
